  • Colorado: Fire Truck Hit in Eagle County Firefighter Almost Hit

    An out-of-control vehicle hit a fire truck in Eagle County, narrowly missing a firefighter. "Another emergency vehicle hit in Vail," Greater Eagle Fire tweeted on Sunday. "[Firefighter] almost hit by car." A photo from the scene showed the rear view mirror on the passenger side of the fire truck hanging down on the side of the truck, after being hit.

  • Missouri: Trooper Injured in Saturday Accident

    A Missouri Highway Patrol car was involved in a crash as the officer was on the scene of another accident. At 11:40 a.m. Saturday on Interstate 55, one mile south of Marston, a Patrol car driven by Conrad L. Purnell, 28, of Poplar Bluff, was parked with its emergency lights activated, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol's report. Purnell's car was struck in the rear by a northbound vehicle driven by Stanley A. Partin, 57, of Portageville.

  • California: Deputy Struck Near Palmdale

    Authorities are investigating a three-car crash on the southbound Highway 14 after a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy was hit by a vehicle during a traffic stop late Saturday February 8, 2014 near Palmdale, authorities said.

    A southern-Indiana sheriff's deputy is recovering Monday morning after a multi-county pursuit led authorities down a dead-end county road, with the suspect vehicle barreling at the deputy as the driver attempted to escape.   • Colorado: Loveland Fire Rescue Truck Struck in Crash

    A car was heavily damaged Wednesday morning when it crashed into the back of a Loveland Fire Rescue Authority rescue truck that had stopped on Interstate 25 to respond to another accident.

  • Colorado: Two Separate Accidents Wednesday Involved First Responders Who Were on the Scene

    Loveland Fire Rescue Authority was responding to a two car slide-off 7:30 a.m. Wednesday near Interstate 25 and U.S. 34, when they spotted another slide-off. Captain Greg Gilbert was one of the fire fighters responding. "Once we had cleared that scene we were returning to quarters and we had passed another accident on 257 and I-25 in the southbound lanes. When we pulled on scene my engineer positioned himself to protect the scene. Had his warning lights on and as he parked the apparatus, we were struck from behind." Hours before that accident on Interstate 25, a Lakeside Police Department SUV was hit by another vehicle on Interstate 70 early Wednesday morning.

  • Connecticut: New Britain Officer Struck By Stolen Car Heads Home

    Brett Morgan, the New Britain police officer badly injured Jan. 19 when he was struck, run over and dragged by a stolen car, was released Thursday from an area rehabilitation hospital, Chief James Wardwell said.

  • Illinois: Ina Police Department Carless

    Officer Anthony Amato responded to Love's Truck Stop on a report of a 7-week old baby not breathing," Chief Allen said. "Once on the scene he performed CPR on the infant until EMS crews arrived on the scene." Officer Amato didn't give up on trying to save the little baby's life. He escorted the ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon."He attempted to block the traffic in the intersection. He was blocking it so the ambulance could get into the hospital quicker. At which point the ambulance struck the rear of the squad car," Chief Allen said. "The ambulance continued onto the emergency room."

    A man drove an SUV into an IDOT maintenance truck that was stopped to help a motorist on the Interstate 90/94 Kennedy Expressway, sending a worker and driver to area hospitals Sunday night.   • California: San Diego Officer Struck by Critical Mass Bicyclist

    A bicyclist participating in the monthly Critical Mass ride Friday night struck a San Diego police officer who was patrolling on a bicycle in the Gaslamp Quarter, police said. The cyclist was transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police Officer David Stafford said. The officer was not injured.
