    An Ansonia firefighter was struck by a vehicle on Friday, driven by a woman accused of trying to steal a Christmas tree. Police said the incident happened at about 4:30 p.m. when a person tried to steal a Christmas tree from the Hilltop Hose Company.

  • Utah: Wrong-Way Driver Hits Trooper's Car

    UHP said brief white-out conditions contributed to several slide-offs and four crashes in the canyon around 6:15 p.m. Monday. During the storm, troopers received word of a Cadillac driving the wrong way in traffic. That vehicle came upon a trooper who was already attending to jack-knifed semitrailer. The trooper had his red and blue patrol car lights on. The man hit the "front driver quarter panel to front driver quarter panel and then sideswiped the side of the trooper's vehicle before eventually stopping," the UHP stated.   • Mississippi" Lee County Deputy Struck by Car

    Lee County deputies were conducting a roadside safety checkpoint on Highway 371 near Mooreville, when a vehicle driven by 45-year-old Audonus D. Taylor, of Fulton, struck one of the deputies after failing to stop for officers at the checkpoint.

  • New Jersey: Caught on Cam: Officer Nearly Hit During Traffic Stop

    A police officer in Atlantic County, New Jersey, came within inches of being hit by an out-of-control car during a traffic stop over the weekend. The close call was caught by his cruiser's dashboard camera. Mullica Township Patrolman Erik Carricarte and his partner, Patrolman Michael Jamerson, had just pulled over two other drivers along the White Horse Pike around 4 a.m. Saturday when a blue Mazda sedan slammed into their patrol car. The driver was suspected to be drunk.

  • Washington State Patrol Detectives Seek Witnesses to I-5 Collision

    On Dec. 21 at approximately 8:55 pm, a Washington State Patrol trooper attempted to stop two vehicles that were racing NB I-5 (express lanes)/South of Northgate. As the trooper turned from the mainline of I-5 to the express lanes, his patrol vehicle struck a light pole. The light pole separated from the base and fell on the main line on NB I-5. During the investigation, a different state trooper, who had just exited his vehicle, was struck by a gold, Honda Accord. The driver of that vehicle fled the scene in his car but was later stopped and arrested for Reckless Driving, DUI and felony Hit and Run near Northgate Way and 1st Ave.

    An impatient driver was cited for leaving the scene of an accident Monday, after he drove into a fire truck and then took off.

  • Washington: Troopers Injured in Crashes Along I-5

    The first trooper’s car crashed around 9 p.m. after an attempt to stop two cars that were racing just south of Northgate. The collision happened on northbound I-5 at 95th Street. The WSP said the trooper lost control and struck a light pole, which then toppled onto I-5. Roughly a half hour later, a second trooper was struck by a drunken driver, according to officers. That trooper was responding to the first crash in an area coned off to traffic. The driver fled, but was taken into custody and arrested for suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run.
