  • Pennsylvania: Police Officer Struck While Investigating Crash in Cheltenham Twp.

    A Cheltenham Township police officer is hospitalized after being struck by a car while investigating an earlier crash.   • Connecticut: Officer Struck by Fleeing Driver; Narcotics Found

    In Hamden, Connecticut an officer was struck. The vehicle operator appeared overly nervous and possibly inebriated during questioning, Harkins said. The driver put the car in gear, grazing a police officer as he sped off. After a pursuit of the fleeing vehicle onto Central Avenue and then Yale Avenue, the driver turned onto West Rock Avenue, where he pulled the vehicle to the side of the road, then fled on foot.

  • Ohio: Firefighters Struck on Ohio Turnpike

    Just before 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, a Canfield fire truck and turnpike vehicle responded to a call for a vehicle into a guardrail on the Ohio Turnpike. “They had just arrived on the scene and just taken their seat belts off and then the impact happened,” Cardinal Joint Fire District Chief Don Hutchinson said. Hutchinson said crashes like the one on Wednesday are something they train for and always have in the back of their minds when responding to call on a major highway. An SUV that stopped behind the fire truck was slammed into by a pick-up towing a car hauler. The SUV burst into flames and its driver Karen Zorn, 27, of Maryland, died. Firefighters Brian Blevins and Troy Kolar had to climb through the windows of the truck to try and help the victims and put out the fire. Hutchison said his guys put their lives on the line each and every day on duty. “There is a possibility something bad can happen to them also, just like everything else, even out there trying to help

  • Texas: Two Deputies Struck

    Two Montgomery County sheriff's deputies were injured when they were struck by a vehicle after stopping to help a stranded motorist on Interstate 45 near Highway 105 early Wednesday morning.

  • Arkansas: Jonesboro Officer Struck

    Jonesboro police say an officer has been injured after being struck by a car while directing traffic. Officer Nathan Ivy was taken to an area hospital after being hit in a Jonesboro intersection Tuesday night. Ivy was directing traffic while maintenance crews worked on a traffic light, which was turned off.

    A Jonesboro police officer hit by a car while directing traffic Tuesday night has been released from a local hospital.

  • Pennsylvania: State Trooper Struck

    A state trooper was hit by a car Wednesday night in East Huntingdon Township, Westmoreland County, police said. The trooper suffered a broken leg, a head injury, and serious arm and hand lacerations. The trooper was hit by a passing car around 8:25 p.m. on the side of state Route 119 while cleaning up debris from a previous crash.   • Massachusetts: Police Cruiser Struck While Trooper Removes Deer from the Highway

    According to officials, a car crashed into a State Police cruiser early Tuesday morning. The Trooper had been removing a deceased deer form the highway when the cruiser was struck around 1:30 a.m. by a car traveling in the high speed land on Route 25 going eastbound. The car struck the cruiser, causing significant damage to both vehicles.
