The state’s highway fatalities have dropped to the lowest number since 2000, according to a Florida Highway Patrol release. The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles data on highway accidents showed 2,986 traffic fatalities for 2008 compared with 2,999 for 2000.
