    A 29-year-old Dover woman has been charged with her third DUI after hitting a University of Delaware officer who was directing traffic and then hitting the back of a vehicle that was stopped, Newark police said in a release today.   • Massachusetts: State Police Cruiser Involved in I-495 Crash

    Massachusetts officials say there were no life-threatening injuries when a vehicle crashed into a state police cruiser and another car in a breakdown lane of Interstate 495 in Raynham. State police say the accident happened shortly before 12:30 a.m. Sunday near the Route 24 interchange.

  • Ohio: State Trooper Hurt in Crash on U.S. 23 in Sylvania

    An Ohio Highway Patrol trooper from the Toledo post was injured when a pickup crashed into a stopped patrol car about midnight in Sylvania. Jacquelyn Layson, 41, was taken to Toledo Hospital with injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening, according to the patrol.   • Kentucky: Two People Critically Injured After Rear-Ending Fire Truck on I-64 in Shelby County

    "Weather played a role in the first accident," Simpsonville's Fire Chief Ronnie Sowder said. The second happened just before 7:30 a.m. as emergency crews responded to the scene of the first crash when a car rear-ended a fire truck from the Eastwood Fire Department. The Simpsonville fire chief said the truck was responding to a non-injury accident when it was rear-ended by a Dodge with two people inside.

  • Pennsylvania: Trooper and Easton Woman Injured When Struck in Lower Saucon Crash

    A Pennsylvania state police trooper was struck by a vehicle today while he investigated a crash on Route 33. The trooper, a senior patrol member of the Belfast station, was not identified by authorities. Police said the trooper's injuries are not life-threatening.   • Virginia Deputy Struck While Directing Traffic

    On Friday (11/15) at about 7:53 PM, a deputy conducting a traffic stop on James Madison Highway was struck by a vehicle. As the vehicle approached the deputy, he signaled with his flashlight at the front of the oncoming vehicle, yelled for the driver to stop, backed up, and even tried to turn and slide over the hood of his patrol car. The driver struck his left leg and the mirror of his vehicle without stopping.   • Massachusetts: State Police Seek Hit-and-Run Driver Who Struck a Trooper

    A state trooper struck by a car in Grafton suffered a damaged tooth and a bruise to his face, but didn’t see the car that struck him and wasn’t able to describe it, state police said. The trooper had wrapped up a traffic stop on Interstate 90 eastbound in Grafton about 1 a.m. and was walking back to his cruiser when he was hit.

  • North Carolina: Wake County Deputy Hit by Car in Work Zone

    A Wake County sheriff's deputy was struck by a vehicle in Raleigh's 'Fortify' work zone Wednesday night. His identity and condition have not been released. Authorities say a driver ran into the deputy's vehicle around 10 p.m. near 264 and 440 while he was parked in the work zone with his blue lights on.

  • Maryland: State Highway Worker Killed in Parkville Crash on I-695 Outer Loop

    A Maryland State Highway Administration worker was killed Thursday morning following a serious crash on the outer loop of Interstate 695 in Parkville, Maryland State Police said. Two state highway employees were working near the Putty Hill Road exit at around 11 a.m. when a Volvo left the roadway and struck one of them and hit their vehicle, said Sgt. Marc Black, a police spokesman. The worker who was hit was pronounced dead at the scene.
