  • North Carolina Trooper Killed in Struck-By Incident

    A state Highway Patrol trooper is dead after being struck by a car while he tried to deploy stop sticks during a high-speed chase that covered parts of Wake and Nash counties. Highway Patrol officials say Trooper Bobby G. Demuth was struck and killed Saturday morning near Spring Hope.   • Missouri Tow Truck Driver Killed in Crash Near Bond Bridge

    Police said a tow truck driver was killed after being hit while out of his vehicle near the Bond Bridge Monday afternoon. Police have identified the driver as Blake A. Gresham, 18, of Smithville. Investigators said the driver had stopped to help a disabled vehicle and had just stepped out of the truck when a box truck sideswiped the tow truck. Police said the tow truck driver was killed at the scene.   • Massachusetts Police Officer Struck And Killed By Dump Truck

    A Westfield police officer was struck and killed by a dump truck on Thursday morning. Jose Torres was working a traffic detail on Pontoosic Road when he was struck around 7:30 a.m., according to CBS 3 in Springfield. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Torres was a 27-year veteran of the Westfield Police.   • West Virginia Courtesy Patrol Officer Struck, Killed While Assisting Vehicle

    A Courtesy Patrol employee was struck by a vehicle and killed early Sunday morning after the driver fell asleep, police say.

  • Texas Towing Driver Killed on Interstate 30

    The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that Billy Wooten Jr. was hit by an 18-wheeler at the 83 mile marker of eastbound Interstate 30, near the intersection of FM 1565, at around 9:40 p.m. Tuesday. At the time, Wooten was loading a vehicle for a DPS Trooper. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Sheila Linden.

  • Montreal Firefighter Struck and Killed

    A 39-year-old city firefighter died on the job after his own pumper truck struck him during an emergency call. Thierry Godfrind was struck about 4:30 p.m. Friday after firefighters responded to a fire caused by a pot left on a stove. His team was unable to revive him at the scene and he was pronounced dead in hospital.     A POLICE officer was killed in Bulawayo on Sunday and another suffered serious injuries in Harare last Wednesday after being hit by motorists at roadblocks.

  • Massachusetts Crossing Guard, 71, Dies After Being Hit by Pickup in Everett

    A 71-year-old crossing guard was struck by a Massachusetts Water Resources Authority pickup truck this morning and transported to Massachusetts General Hospital where she died tonight. Marie Stewart of Everett was struck by a white GMC pickup driven by an Massachusetts Water Resource Authority employee.

  • St. Louis Area Towing Operator Struck and Killed

    A 21-year-old suspect has been charged after a St. Louis-area tow truck driver was killed in an alleged hit-and-run accident in north St. Louis Monday night. Aaron Bogue was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and property damage. He remains in custody on a $50,000 cash-only bond. Police said Bogue struck and killed 51-year-old David Bense Sr., who worked for AAA Auto Club, on Interstate 70 near West Florissant while he was putting down safety flares and assisting a stranded motorist. Bense’s wife said he was on his last call of the night and was wearing a safety vest.   • South Carolina Towing Operator Struck and Killed on I-95

    A Timmonsville, South Carolina man is dead after a vehicle struck him on I-95, near mile marker 175 in Dillon County, Saturday evening April 7, 2012. According to Dillon County Coroner, Donnie Grimsley, James Coffee, 24, died after being struck by a Dodge van headed northbound. Sgt. Bryan McDougald of the Highway Patrol said that Coffee was working for a local wrecker company and was on the scene of a disabled vehicle call when he was hit. The Highway Patrol is currently investigating the scene and no further information regarding the circumstances surrounding the accident can be released at this time.
