Florida's Move Over Law requires motorists on two-lane roadways to slow down to 20 miles below speed limit near a police vehicle pulled over at the side of the road.

Georgia's move-over law is meant to reduce the number of injuries and fatalities to police officers, paramedics, fire rescue and tow truck operators. The law is also there to protect traffic violators from each passing car.

New Law Hopes to Keep Tennesse Utility Workers Safe
A new law is now effect which is designed to help keep utility workers safe. Last July 1st, the state of Tennessee's move over law was extended to cover utility crews. The law has already required motorists to slow down or move over when passing emergency responders on a roadway. KUB crews want to remind drivers to give them more room to make their work zones safer.

Ellenville, NY Judge Presses for Expanded ‘Move Over Law'
A new law, which is waiting for Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s signature, could help prevent such tragedies from happening again. Ellenville Village Justice Matthew Parker said he has worked for the nearly eight years since his son died to get such a law adopted in New York state. He said the “Move Over Bill” for the law has always passed the state Senate, but each year got hung up in a committee in the state Assembly.
