  • Maryland: State Police trooper injured in accident on I-95

    A Maryland state trooper was injured Sunday night after a vehicle struck his patrol car while he was on traffic control duty in a construction zone on I-95 in Harford County.

  • Kentucky: Pikeville Police Officer Struck While Directing Traffic

    A Pikeville Police Officer was struck by a vehicle as he worked as in front of a local elementary school. According to East Kentucky Broadcasting, the policeman was directing traffic at Pikeville High School when he was hit by a car. His name has not been released. However, the officer was treated at Pikeville Medical Center and released. The driver of the car is not currently facing any charges. Police say weather was a factor.

  • Colorado: Officer struck when responding to armed shoplifting in Pueblo

    Officers responded to a call of shoplifting around 7:30 p.m. in Pueblo Monday. The store is located at 5627 N. Elizabeth Street. Officers arrived to discover an occupied stolen vehicle parked out front of the store. In the process of blocking the vehicle in, the driver attempted to run over one of the officers. Shots were fired by officers and the suspect was struck.

    State police say a Rhode Island state trooper was hurt after he was hit by a vehicle while helping a disabled vehicle on state Route 146 in Lincoln. State police say Jeremy Gaucher had been standing near the front of his cruiser Sunday morning when a vehicle lost control on the slick roadway, slid and then struck both the cruiser and the troop

    On October 6, 2016, at approximately 7:46 p.m. deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office were assisting the Maryland State Police with a motor vehicle collision investigation on Point Lookout Road in the area of Adkins Road in Great Mills, Maryland.

  • United Kingdom: Officers hit by reversing car after trying to speak to motorist at resort petrol station

    Two police officers were hurt in the line of duty after trying to speak to the driver of a car over the weekend. The pair had attempted to stop a Vauxhall Vectra on the forecourt of Sainsbury’s petrol station in Talbot Road, Blackpool, when it suddenly reversed. They were struck by the driver’s open door and knocked to the ground, a spokeswoman for Lancashire Police said. The men went to Blackpool Victoria Hospital for treatment for minor injuries, while their colleagues began hunting for the Vectra, which drove off after also hitting two parked police cars.

  • North Carolina: Winston-Salem officer struck, injured by vehicle

    A Winston-Salem police officer was injured Thursday when a man hit him with a BMW during an investigation of an earlier assault. Officer A.B. Burak fell down when he was hit and suffered a large cut on the back of his head, according to a news release from the Winston-Salem Police Department. Burak, a three-year veteran of the department, was treated at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and released after the incident. Police said the incident started after 2 p.m. when Burak went to a residence at 2809 Buchanan St. to look for a silver BMW that had been involved in an assault minutes earlier at a nearby residence. While Burak was there, Antonio Renato Thompson, 22, drove up in the BMW. Burak attempted to speak to Thompson, but Thompson walked away and returned to the BMW, the release says. Burak told Thompson to stop, then opened the driver’s door and directed Thompson to get out. Thompson, however, placed the vehicle in reverse and accelerated, hitting Burak, police said. Thompson then fled the scene. Thompson, of 2809 Buchanan St., voluntarily went to the police department several hours later, police said. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer and felony hit and run. He was placed in the Forsyth County Jail under a $35,000 secured bond.

    A Rhode Island State Police trooper was struck by a car on route 146 southbound in Lincoln Sunday while trying to assist another disabled vehicle on the side of the road.

  • California: Sacramento County Deputy Struck By Vehicle After Responding To Call

    A deputy was accidentally struck by a vehicle in south Sacramento Thursday night, authorities say. The scene is near Gerber Road and Wilbur Way.
