Ohio: Highway Worker Injured on I-71
Alcohol is a factor in a fatal crash involving a state crew filling potholes on northbound Interstate 71 early Wednesday, Norwood police said. One male driver died at the scene and a road worker was injured when a Range Rover crashed into the back of an Ohio Department of Transportation truck about 1 a.m., said Sgt. Tim Buchanan. Their names were not released.

Florida: Volusia County Deputy Hit by Car; Airlifted to Hospital
The Volusia County Sheriff's Office says a deputy was hit by a car as she was investigating a different crash scene Monday night. Investigators say the deputy was hit on Merrick Drive and Fort Smith Boulevard just before 10:00pm.

An Anne Arudel County police officer is hurt while trying to stop a fleeing drug suspect. That suspect now faces an attempted murder charge for running into the officer with his car.

California: Los Angeles PD Crash with Blood Drive Held for Injured Officer
A blood drive is being held Monday for an LAPD motorcycle officer who was struck by a DUI driver in Sun Valley Saturday. The officer is listed in critical condition. The accident occurred at the intersection of Saticoy Street and Lankershim Boulevard around 5:34 p.m.

North Carolina: Montgomery Firefighter Seriously Hurt in Accident
A Candor firefighter lost his left leg after he was injured in a traffic accident Thursday at the scene of a woods fire in Montgomery County. The firefighter, Earl Harrington, 43, of Candor was pinned between a fire truck and another vehicle which struck the emergency vehicle due to low visibility from smoke caused by the Thursday afternoon fire at 1906 Cole Road, near Brewer Road.
