Charleston Police spokesperson Charles Francis says Officer James Foster was assisting a Charleston County Sheriffs Deputy at a traffic stop at approximately 915 when he was hit by a motorist. The accident happened at in intersection of Folly and Grimball Roads.

  • South Carolina Deputy Opens Fire on Fleeing Driver in West Ashley

    A traffic stop in West Ashley leads to a Charleston County deputy shooting several rounds at the fleeing driver Monday afternoon. It happened around 2 P.M. at 1600 Highway 61. Charleston County Chief Deputy John Clark tells News 2, the deputy pulled the driver over, and as he began to ask for his drivers license and registration, the suspect drove off and allegedly tried to hit the deputy. The deputy fired multiple rounds at the driver.
