Suspect Arrested in Chicago in Hit-Run of Milwaukee Officer
Police have arrested a 19-year-old man in Chicago in an alleged hit-and-run that critically injured a uniformed police officer in Milwaukee. Officer Frank Vrtochnick, 37, was struck Sunday afternoon as he stood outside his squad car by a motorist who drove on the wrong side of the road and jumped a curb. The driver fled after the crash.

In the statement, Frank and Agnes Vrtochnick express gratitude for the support the community has provided for their injured son, as well as law enforcement for working dilligently to solve this case, and Vrtochnick's doctors, and they ask for continued prayers for Vrtochnick's recovery

Man Hits Kentucky Deputy with His Vehicle, Takes Off
Police need help identifying two people involved in a hit and run crash with a sheriff's deputy. The incident happened on December 9th. The off duty deputy was traveling along U.S. 27, near Brannon Crossing, when a vehicle struck him from behind. The deputy got out of his car and went to check on the people who rear-ended him. When he identified himself to the driver of the other vehicle as a deputy, that driver took off. In doing so, he hit the deputy with his vehicle. The deputy suffered minor injuries.

A Temple police officer who was dragged by a Cadillac SUV whose driver was attempting to flee after a traffic stop has been released from the hospital and is on medical leave and the driver whom the officer shot remained hospitalized Tuesday.

SUV Hits Colorado Police Car While Being Towed
An SUV hit a utility pole at E Costilla St and S Weber St in Colorado Springs on Tuesday morning. A tow truck was towing the SUV when a chain broke, releasing the SUV from the flatbed. The SUV rolled into a police cruiser that was nearby. No one was hurt in the accident.

An Indiana state trooper was lucky not to be seriously hurt on Christmas when a truck hauling 19 Mercedes Benz vehicles clipped her police car as she was helping a motorist on the Indiana Toll Road.

Erie, PA Police Officer Hit by SUV Upgraded to 'Fair' Condition
The condition of an Erie police officer hit by a sport utility vehicle earlier this month continues to improve. Mary Schmeisser, 41, has been moved out of UPMC Hamot's intensive care unit and is listed in fair condition today, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Massachusetts Officer hit During DUI Arrest in Lowell
A wild ride ended with an accused drunk driver in jail, a Lowell police officer hurt and a 4-year-old boy in foster care. Police say they received reports that the driver, 37-year-old Sean Stanek, was asleep in his car in the middle of a bridge in Lowell. By the time officers caught up with him, he had woken up and driven near the intersection of Wood Street and Princeton.
