North Carolina Firefighter Injured While Assisting Crash Victims
Kirk Lunsford, 38, a Crooked Creek volunteer firefighter was driving west on I-40 near Old Fort when he saw tractor-trailer overturned in the eastbound lane. Lunsford exited his vehicle, but was pinned against the concrete median by a crashing westbound vehicle, seriously injuring his legs and hurting his head.

South Carolina State Trooper Killed During Memorial Ride for Another Trooper
A state trooper was killed in a traffic accident Saturday morning in Camden during a memorial ride for another fallen trooper, who had been killed in 1992. Kershaw County Sheriff's Captain David Thomley said 41-year-old Jonathan Nash was driving the lead motorcycle on a memorial ride for Trooper H. Merl Godbold.
