Cove Creek/Pearson Volunteer Fire Departments are mourning the loss of their fire chief Sunday.Doug Deckard, 51, was outside his vehicle checking on damage and water conditions when he was struck on Highway 25 near Quitman.

Mississippi: Two Firefighter Struck and Killed by Hit-Run Driver
Horrible news out of Mississippi tonight as 2 Sumrall Firefighters (SE of Jackson) have been killed in the Line of Duty after a hit-and-run crash on Hwy 589 in Sumrall, Lamar County this evening.

Ohio: Cleveland Police Officer was struck and killed on I-90
Cleveland Police Officer David Fahey was struck and killed by a hit and run driver this morning while setting up flares to divert traffic. Other emergency service personnel were already at the scene in that same area of the highway due to a crash involving a van and the fire apparatus earlier in the morning. The driver of that van was killed after striking the fire apparatus.
