(CA)(03-03-2021) LAPD Officer Dies Days After Being Hit by Vehicle in South LA
LAPD Officer Jose Anzora, 31, was struck about 7:30 p.m. Friday, February 26th while directing traffic outside of his vehicle near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Trinity Street, police said.
Officer Anzora was taken to a hospital in serious condition following the crash.
The department announced Anzora's death in a statement Wednesday, saying he died following a “heroic battle for his life.''
“Today we lost a guardian & protector,'' LAPD Chief Michel Moore tweeted Wednesday. “Officer Jose Anzora served for nearly a decade. He tragically lost his life in the selfless service in the communities in South L.A.
Anzora worked for the LAPD since 2011, according to the department. Officer Anzora, 31, is survived by his wife, mother and other relatives.
