• New York Drivers Must Move Over: Law in Honor of Deputy Killed in Line of Duty

  Drivers should prepare to pull over into the other lane when they see a police car stopped on the side of the road. Starting January 1st, drivers must move over and slow down. It's part of a new law passed in memory of two officers who died in the line of duty, including Onondaga County Sheriff's Deputy Glenn Searles.

• Washington State Strengthens 'Move Over' Law on Roadways

  Starting Jan. 1, a new state law takes effect that adds more teeth to an earlier “move over” law from 2007. The new provisions create emergency zones around officials and tow truck drivers who must work alongside roads.

  State Police debuted a new safe driving video on its website and YouTube Thursday, in response to an increase in DUI arrests over the Thanksgiving Holiday. The message reminds Virginians to avoid driving after drinking, wear seatbelts, and to remember the move over law for police and emergency workers.

• New North Carolina Move Over Law

  A new law protecting electric utility workers goes into effect Wednesday. The "move over" law says drivers have to move into the farthest lane, or slow down, when passing a public service vehicle that's flashing a warning signal.

  The slick roads are giving everyone problems, and the Utah Highway Patrol says it's putting troopers' lives at risk. As troopers try to help accident victims, too many drivers are ignoring Utah's "Move Over Law."
