Virginia HOV Violators Beware
Virginia and Maryland authorities aim to crackdown on High Occupancy Vehicle lane violators today. Police from both states will come together for Capitol Region HOV Awareness Day this morning, fanning out in search of those cheating the express lanes. Officers will also look to make sure drivers are obeying Virginia’s “Move Over” law, which requires drivers to change lanes before they pass an emergency vehicle stopped on the side of the roadway with lights on. Violating the law can result in a $2,500 fine.
