FLORIDA TROOPERS CRACK DOWN ON SPEEDERS
The Florida Highway Patrol says March and April are peak months for traffic crashes in the Sunshine State. That's why troopers will have have their eyes out for motorists driving above the speed limit during a statewide traffic enforcement operation this weekend. It's being called "Operation Safe Ride."
Speed limit violators will be tracked using aircraft, motorcycles, and both marked and unmarked vehicles. Troopers say efforts will be focused on every interstate and major roadway. "We're going to focus on people that are driving at excessive speeds, aggressive drivers and we're concerned that our young people and the rest of the motoring public slows down and takes time to enjoy this spring break," said LT Ron Castleberry. FHP is also asking drivers to protect the safety of officers, by observing the state's "move over law."
