SUPRISES ABOUND IN WISCONSIN FOR MEMORIAL WEEKEND TRAVELERS
State Patrol troopers and other law enforcement agencies will be on the lookout for speeders this weekend.
Memorial Day weekend is also a CARE, or Combined Accident Reduction Effort, weekend. Officers will adhere to strict traffic enforcement policies to reduce traffic crashes. The weekend also falls within the "Click It or Ticket" mobilization, where officers will be strictly enforcing the state's mandatory seat belt law.
And special units will be targeting drunken drivers, said Capt. Randy Schultz of the Brown County Sheriff's Department.
"It's all about traffic safety," he said. Schultz reminded motorists to obey the "move over" law, which requires drivers to move over a lane or slow down if they see law officers stopped along roadways.
