TEXAS TROOPERS TO ENFORCE "MOVE OVER LAW"
When a driver is pulled over by an emergency vehicle in front of you, the state highway patrol says it's not just a courtesy for you to merge left, it's the law. The problem is that not everyone seems to know it. Police are funding that motorists are not merging over when they see an emergency vehicle on the side of the road with its lights on. The law says that motorists must move over and if they cannot move over the law says you need to reduce your speed to 20 miles per hour below the speed limit. Authorities states that the "Move Over Law" was enacted in the State of Texas in September of 2003. Its intent is to keep the driver and state troopers alive during traffic stops. The citation for failing to move over is $200. If you cause property damage, the fine increases to $500. And if you cause bodily injury you could even serve some jail time.
