  • Kentucky Deputy Kills Suspect During Dragging Incident

    A man is dead and a Jefferson County sheriff's deputy injured after an incident early Wednesday morning. According to police, two deputies were serving an emergency protective order at a home, but no one answered the door. Sheriff's Office spokesman Carl Yates said about 4 a.m., two deputies noticed a man walking down the street with a gas can in the 3300 block of Powell Avenue. When they questioned the man, Yates said the man got into his car and tried to leave. One of the deputies approached and tried to grab the man. They began fighting over the steering wheel and the keys to the car and the deputy was kind of half in the car, half out of it and and being drug around the corner. At some point in the struggle, the deputy fired one shot and the suspect was killed.

    Motrin and Advil are known generically as ibuprofen, and you can buy the drug at any supermarket. But there’s a devil in the details, as a West Palm Beach man learned when he was stopped by Palm Beach police on Sunday. The driver, who told an officer he was in town looking for a job at a hotel or restaurant, made a mistake by passing an emergency vehicle on South County Road without slowing down. It’s called Florida’s “Move Over” law, and it requires you to either change lanes on a multi-lane road or slow to 20 mph under the speed limit.

    A Pittsburgh police officer was taken to the hospital after being struck by a car in a Station Square parking lot.

  • Cab Hits New Jersey Ambulance and Parked Vehicle, Then Flees

    A North Bergen ambulance and a parked vehicle were stuck during a hit-and-run Wednesday at 10:34 a.m. on Willow Avenue between Seventh and Eighth streets, police said.

  • Suspect in North Carolina Hit-and-Run Arrested in Georgia

    A man accused of running over a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officer as the officer tried to stop him, has run from the law before. Dekalb County police arrested 28-year-old Ivory Chappell in Lithonia, Ga. Friday. The night before, police said he ran over CMPD Officer Chris Kunz as Kunz tried to stop Chappell.

  • Suspect in Ohio Deputy’s Death Initially Denied Driving Car

    When Marcus Isreal was being interviewed on May 10 just hours after Warren County Sheriff’s Sgt. Brian Dulle was struck and killed by a speeding car he was driving, Isreal said he was not behind the wheel, according to evidence presented Thursday. An Ohio Highway Patrol crash reconstructionist told a Warren County Common Pleas Court jury this morning the car was traveling an estimated 114 mph when it struck and killed Warren County Sheriff’s Sgt.     Authorities in Rutherford County are searching for a man they say accelerated his vehicle toward, and just missed, a deputy before driving away in a wild high-speed chase Monday.

  • Canadian Tow Truck Driver was Incredulous over Criminal Charge Against Him

    Tow truck driver Ronald Taylor couldn’t understand why he was charged with criminal negligence causing death after another driver hit his stationary truck on the highway. Taylor had just helped a motorist get her car out of the centre median. This incident happened in 2009.

  • Connecticut Police say a State Trooper has been injured at a highway construction site on the Merritt Parkway in Fairfield.

    The Hartford Courant reports that State Police say a vehicle driven by Gino Restaini of Wilton struck a cruiser driven by Trooper Benedict Liberator as the officer pulled into the right lane. Trooper Liberator and Restaini were taken to St. Vincent's Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
