  • Police to Drivers in New Jersey: Move Over!

    It's been on the books for more than two years, but a lot of drivers have no idea that New Jersey's "Move Over" law even exists. Motorists beware. You soon will be ticketed for failing to obey the state’s Move Over Law. The Move Over Law, which was passed almost two years ago, requires motorists approaching stationary emergency vehicles, tow trucks and other highway safety vehicles displaying red, blue and/or amber flashing lights to move over one lane. If it is not safe to move over, then motorists must slow down below the posted speed limit prior to passing emergency vehicles. Drivers should also be prepared to stop, if necessary.

  • Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Hit by Vehicle for 2nd Time in Less Than a Year

    A Utah Highway Patrol trooper was injured Friday after a vehicle crashed into his parked patrol car — the second time he has been hit in less than a year. Trooper Brandon Whitehead had just completed a traffic stop and was finishing paperwork in his car on the right side of northbound I-15 just south of Ogden when the accident occurred around 1:30 a.m., Weber County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Klint Anderson said. A vehicle traveling north apparently drifted off the side of the road, hitting the back of the trooper's vehicle and causing extensive damage.

    Authorities say an Atlanta firefighter was taken to a hospital after his fire engine was struck by a vehicle on a freeway in the city.

  • Florida Deputy Involved in Traffic Accident

    A Lee County Sheriff's Office motorcycle officer was transported to the hospital this afternoon following a fender bender in Cape Coral.

  • Knoxville, TN Police Car, Fire Engine Collide

    Emergency personnel today zigged when they should have zagged while responding to a vehicle crash and collided with each other. The crash occurred about 12:06 p.m. when police and firefighters searched for a crashed SUV that had left Red Bud Road in South Knoxville, gone down an embankment and slammed into a tree.

  • Millevale, Pennsylvania Police Officer Hit By Car

    A Millvale police officer struck by a car on Route 28 near the 40th Street Bridge tonight is in stable condition at a local hospital, according to police. An emergency dispatch supervisor said the incident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. Police said the officer was directing traffic when a vehicle traveling south on Route 28 was about to turn left onto the bridge and hit the officer. Scott Bailey has been a part-time officer with the department for five years.

  • Motorist Strikes Bergenfield, NJ Police Officer

    A Bergenfield police officer was hit by a car near the intersection of Prospect Avenue and Church Street last Tuesday evening and was brought to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

  • Prognosis is Positive for the Pennsylvania Policeman Who Was Struck by Car

    A Millvale police officer who was struck by a car while directing traffic Wednesday night on Route 28 is expected to recover, Allegheny County police said this morning.

  • Driver of Pickup That Struck Massachusetts Officer to be Cited

    The driver of a pickup truck that struck a Peabody police sergeant working a detail on Route 1 Monday morning will be cited at a later date. Sgt. Eric Zawacki suffered serious injuries in the accident and was taken by ambulance to Massachusetts General Hospital. He is expected to survive, according to State Police.

  • Drunk Driver Crashes into North Carolina “Booze It and Lose It” DWI Checkpoint Center

    A North Carolina man is facing criminal charges after driving his Camaro sports car into a local DWI mobile command center Sunday morning at 2:45am. Police say they suspect 21-year-old Douglas Shane Southard was driving under the influence of alcohol.
