  • Connecticut: New Britain Officer Struck By Stolen Car Heads Home

    Brett Morgan, the New Britain police officer badly injured Jan. 19 when he was struck, run over and dragged by a stolen car, was released Thursday from an area rehabilitation hospital, Chief James Wardwell said.

  • Illinois: Ina Police Department Carless

    Officer Anthony Amato responded to Love's Truck Stop on a report of a 7-week old baby not breathing," Chief Allen said. "Once on the scene he performed CPR on the infant until EMS crews arrived on the scene." Officer Amato didn't give up on trying to save the little baby's life. He escorted the ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon."He attempted to block the traffic in the intersection. He was blocking it so the ambulance could get into the hospital quicker. At which point the ambulance struck the rear of the squad car," Chief Allen said. "The ambulance continued onto the emergency room."

  • California: San Diego Officer Struck by Critical Mass Bicyclist

    A bicyclist participating in the monthly Critical Mass ride Friday night struck a San Diego police officer who was patrolling on a bicycle in the Gaslamp Quarter, police said. The cyclist was transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police Officer David Stafford said. The officer was not injured.

  • Colorado: Trooper’s Vehicle Struck While Assisting at Accident Scene

    A Colorado State Patrol vehicle — on-scene with local police at a single-vehicle crash on the 29 Road overpass, south of North Avenue — was struck by another car this morning. The trooper, outside of the car at the time of the crash, was uninjured, but the driver of the 2007 Honda Accord that slid into the police cruiser sustained minor injuries, the CSP said.   • Minnesota: State Patrol Squad Hit by Vehicle on I-94; in Minneapolis Trooper Injured

    A Minnesota State Patrol squad car was struck by another vehicle, injuring the trooper, during a traffic stop Friday evening on Interstate 94 in Minneapolis. Trooper Jared Sturgill, 40, of Golden Valley was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with injuries that weren't considered to be life-threatening.   • New York: North Greece Firefighter Struck

    Greece Police say a firefighter from the North Greece Fire Department was injured after he was struck by a vehicle Saturday afternoon. Police say the firefighter was directing traffic at the intersection of Latta Road and North Greece Road after a car crash when another car hit him.

  • Wisconsin: State Trooper Struck by Vehicle Still Hospitalized

    A state trooper who was struck by a vehicle during a traffic stop last weekend remains hospitalized at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah. Justin Hansen, 36, was getting an item from the trunk of his squad while investigating a freeway crash on Highway 41 near Menasha in Winnebago County when he was struck.

  • Canada: Dufferin County Declares State of Emergency Due to Weather

    Dufferin County has declared a state of emergency Tuesday afternoon because of high winds and frigid temperatures created dangerous driving conditions. “Local resources have been exhausted and mutual assistance agreements need to be implemented to further manage this situation,” county warden Bill Hill said in a release. The bad weather may be behind a crash involving an OPP officer who was hurt after her cruiser was rear-ended by a transport truck just west of Orangeville earlier in the day.

  • Canada: Ontario Provincial Police Cruisers Struck

    Two provincial police officers were injured Wednesday when their cruisers were struck by other vehicles. Police say an officer was taken to hospital when his cruiser was hit by a tractor-trailer while he was stopped at the side of Highway 10 near Bovaird Drive in Brampton, Ontario. The officer was trapped in the vehicle after it was pushed against a guardrail. His injuries are considered minor. Earlier in the day, a female officer was injured after her cruiser was hit by a tractor-trailer west of Orangeville. Her injuries were also non-life-threatening.
