    An Alabama State Trooper was struck by a vehicle while directing traffic near Luverne Thursday night, according to the Alabama Department of Public Safety. The trooper was assisting a motorist on Highway 29 two miles north of Luverne just before 6 p.m. when he was struck, according to Trooper Kevin Cook.   • Canada: Police Officer Struck by Snowmobile

    A 25-year-old Natuashish man has been arrested and charged in connection with an assault against a police officer in the community last night. The officer was taken to the local clinic for treatment after he was reportedly struck by a snowmobile.

  • Indiana State Trooper's Vehicle Struck on I-65

    An Indiana State Trooper was taken to a hospital in northwest Indiana Wednesday morning after the squad car he was sitting in was hit by a pickup truck on I-65 near Merrillville. The trooper, Aaron Segrest, 53, a 29-year veteran was sitting in his parked squad car on the outer shoulder of the northbound lanes at around 10 a.m. with his emergency lights on while investigating a two-vehicle accident when the driver of a pickup truck also in the northbound lanes lost control and hit Segrest’s car.

  • Tennessee Trooper Nearly Killed in 2012 Crash Returns Home Following Surgery

    The state trooper who nearly died when a trucker hit his patrol car on Interstate 40 two years ago is back home. Sgt. Lowell Russell returned to Knoxville Wednesday night from San Francisco. Family and friends welcomed him home at McGhee Tyson Airport. Russell suffered a fractured neck and spine in the 2012 crash as well as other injuries. He underwent another surgery last week. It's hoped Sgt. Russell will have more mobility in his neck as a result
