Washington: Driver tries to hit woman with van, rams cop car in Lynnwood
A profanity-spewing driver was arrested Saturday in Lynnwood after he allegedly attempted to run over a woman at a gas station and crashed into a police sergeant's patrol car before leading officers on a short chase, police said.
The incident unfolded at about 11:30 a.m. when 911 dispatchers received a call about a man who had attempted to strike a woman's vehicle and then the woman herself at the 76 gas station on the corner of 196th Street SW and Highway 99 in Lynnwood.
After police arrived on scene, the woman told them that the suspect was a stranger to her and he was shouting profanities.
Officers found the suspect in his van in the nearby JoAnn Fabric's parking lot and contacted him. He refused to get out of his van and instead drove off, hitting one officer with his door and smashing into the front end of a sergeant's vehicle, said Lynnwood police spokesperson Joanna Small.
