Tennessee: Woman arrested for striking patrol car that hit officer, pursuit
Millersville Police said a woman believed to be intoxicated has been arrested after striking a patrol car and attempting to evade arrest through two counties on Saturday. The woman was charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to maintain lane and due care, according to a Millersville Police Department press release.
MILLERSVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) – Millersville Police said a woman believed to be intoxicated has been arrested after striking a patrol car and attempting to evade arrest through two counties on Saturday.
The woman was charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to maintain lane and due care, according to a Millersville Police Department press release.
Officers arrived at the Owl's Roost Campground after receiving reports that a female who appeared to be intoxicated attempted to enter various vehicles and campers. Millersville Police spotted a woman matching the description of the suspect walking in the campground.
When the woman saw the officer, she began running to a Lexus SUV and ignored the officer's commands to stop. The suspect entered the SUV, put the vehicle in reverse and struck a Millersville Police vehicle, which caused the vehicle to move and strike an officer standing next to it.
The Lexus SUV fled the scene, leading to a pursuit, which lasted 40 minutes, spanned two counties (Robertson and Sumner) and reached speeds of 120 mph. The woman was stopped by spike strips deployed by the Gallatin Police Department, causing four flat tires.
Millersville Police were also assisted by the Sumner County Sheriff's Office and the Tennessee Highway Patrol, which included a THP helicopter being used in the pursuit. The officer sruck by the vehicle received treatment at Skyline Medical Center for minor injuries.
The suspect was transported to Robertson County Jail for booking.
