Indiana: Blocking Fire Rig Struck - Civilian Fatality

An Indianapolis man is dead after crashing into a parked fire truck Tuesday morning. Around 8:30 a.m. police were called to the scene of a crash involving a semi on I-69 northbound near the 259 mile marker.

When first responders arrived to assist with the semi crash, they parked the emergency vehicles in the shoulder with their lights on.

While officials were investigating the semi crash, a 2003 Honda Element SUV driven by 43-year-old Charles Finney crashed into the parked fire truck.

Finney was traveling northbound when he lost control of his vehicle. Finney crashed his car into the back of the fire truck and caused extensive damage to both vehicles.

Finney was removed from his SUV by first responders and transported to the hospital, where he later died.

Alcohol or drugs are not suspected in the crash.
