Connecticut: Two arrested in hit and run that injured Bridgeport firefighter

Two people have been arrested in last June’s hit and run crash that seriously injured a Bridgeport firefighter. On Thursday, the Bridgeport Police Traffic Division arrested two people for the June 28, 2019crash that happened at the intersection of Stratford Avenue and East Main Street.

On that day at approximately 11:18 p.m., an off-duty Bridgeport fireman was crossing Stratford Avenue, within the crosswalk, from the southeast corner to the northeast corner.

“As he was crossing the westbound lanes he was struck by a vehicle. The striking vehicle turned northbound onto East Main Street, stopped briefly, and then fled the scene,” said Capt. Kevin Gilleran.

The firefighter - a 46-year-old Stratford resident - was transported to Bridgeport Hospital with multiple serious injuries.

Adrian Cauthen, 33, of Bridgeport,was charged with evading responsibility, serious physical injury, tapering with physical evidence, interfering with a police officer, assault in the third degree and failure to yield to a pedestrian. Cauthen is being held on a $20,000 bond.

Frances Marino, 33, also of Bridgeport, was charged with evading responsibility - serious physical injury, tampering with physical evidence and interfering with a police officer. Marino was given a $10,000 bond.

Gilleran said Officers Cynthia Dolyak and John Perry “conducted the investigation they are commended for doing an outstanding job and bringing this case to conclusion. Additional thanks to the Patrol Division for assisting with the warrant.”
