New York: Ithaca police officer hit by car while directing traffic
An Ithaca Police officer was struck while directing traffic Saturday morning at the entrance of the Home Depot plaza. He was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries, the Ithaca Police Department said.
The IPD, Ithaca Fire Department and Bangs Ambulance responded to the scene of a two-car crash at about 11:37 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at 410 Elmira Road, which is the intersection at the entrance of the Home Depot plaza. The crash took up most of the intersection, police said.
While some officers were investigating the crash, two others wearing reflective vests were directing traffic. At about 11:55 a.m., police say an officer was struck by a vehicle and knocked to the pavement. He was transported by Bangs Ambulance to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries, police said.
