Pennsylvania: Apparatus Driver Struck in Head by Hose Coupling After Car Snags Suppy Hose When They Drove Over Hose
A fire company in Pennsylvania put out a public safety message after an incident led to one of their engine drivers being hit in the head by a hose coupling.
The Franklin Fire Company said their Engine 43 was the first one on the scene of a fire in a development, and they laid the hose out within moments of getting there. Officials said they didn’t have time to set up cones or blocking devices before a driver tried to cross the hose.
Firefighters reportedly started waving and trying to get the person to stop, but the vehicle snagged the hose and started to pull more of it off the engine. That caused the engine driver to be hit by the 4-inch diameter coupling.
They said that the driver was not seriously injured, and although the incident was unintentional, they wanted to raise awareness about it.
“PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE OVER OUR HOSE OR THROUGH THE INCIDENT SCENE,” they posted
