Kentucky: Warren Co. man arrested after striking police officer with vehicle
A Warren County man was arrested Thursday on several charges, including third-degree assault and first-degree wanton endangerment involving a police officer.
Richard Cardwell, 34, of Bowling Green was arrested without incident by members of the Hart County Sheriff's Office, the Kentucky State Police and the Greater Hardin County Narcotics Task Force, said a Hart County Sheriff's Office press release.
Cardwell arrived at 2684 Flint Ridge Road in Horse Cave on Tuesday, driving a black Cadillac Escalade. Police officers were at the residence serving an arrest warrant when he arrived. Cardwell fled the scene and in doing so he struck a police officer with his vehicle, said the press release.
Cardwell led police on a high speed pursuit and ultimately eluded police officers, but they joined together in locating him, the press release said.
In addition to third-degree assault and first-degree wanton endangerment, Cardwell was charged with first-degree fleeing and evading (motor vehicle) and for first-degree knowing and possession anhydrous ammonia with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine, the press release said.
Cardwell was lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail. He has since been released, according to the jail website.
