New Hampshire: Suspected intoxicated driver struck cruiser, tow truck in Newington
New Hampshire State Police said an intoxicated driver sideswiped a trooper’s cruiser and nearly struck a tow truck driver in Newington early Friday morning before fleeing the scene.
Troopers said they arrested a driver for driving while intoxicated on the Spaulding Turnpike near Exit 4 around 12:45 a.m. and were waiting for the tow truck driver to load the vehicle onto a flatbed when another driver sideswiped both vehicles and fled.
The trooper and the DWI suspect were both inside the cruiser at the time of the crash, but the 18-year-old tow truck driver was standing outside and had to jump into the truck’s cab to avoid being hit, according state police.
No one was hurt.
State police said the trooper’s blue emergency lights were flashing and as was the tow truck’s warning lights.
After releasing a description of the suspect’s vehicle, state police said a Dover police officer found the vehicle in a driveway on Boston Harbor Road in Dover.
Officers arrested 25-year-old Robyn Dubois, of Dover, and charged her with aggravated driving while intoxicated, conduct after an accident, and motorist duties when approaching highway emergencies (move-over law).
State police said Dubois had a breath alcohol concentration of .16, which is twice the legal limit.
