Tennessee: Morristown police officer struck by car
A Morristown police officer was run over by a car on Sunday July 8, 2018.
Connie Davis has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Reckless Endangerment, Evading Arrest and Disorderly Conduct. Her bond has been set at $300,000.
Officers were responding to a domestic disturbance call at 416 W. Hillcrest.
Davis refused to leave the property, and when officers tried to take Davis into custody from her vehicle she accelerated in reverse knocking the officer to the ground and running over him.
The officer was transported to Morristown Hamblen Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
He has since been transferred to UT Medical Center where he underwent surgery on his right leg and left ankle. He is expected to remain in the hospital for several days.
MPD Chief Overholt stated, “this incident highlights the type of risks officers face each day. We are fortunate to have professional men and women willing to face these challenges to keep our community safe."
