Tennessee: Kingston police sergeant struck by hit-and-run driver
A Kingston, Tenn. police sergeant is expected to undergo surgery after being struck by a hit-and-run driver during a traffic stop Sunday night. Sgt. Jerry Singleton was standing next to the driver-side door of a truck pulling car hauler trailer when the driver sped away, according to a Kingston Police Department news release.
The trailer ran over Singleton, who had to be transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. The lawman was awaiting surgery for injuries to his knees Monday, the release states. The hit-and-run suspect is now in custody. The suspect's name, and details of possible criminal charges, have not been released.
