Colorado: Littleton officer struck by vehicle, one shot fired as driver fled the incident

An officer fired a shot at a suspected stolen vehicle in Littleton on Wednesday after the driver of the sedan accelerated, struck an officer and sped away, police said.

The incident happened at about noon when officers spotted a suspected stolen car at the Centennial Square shopping center, 2819 W. Belleview Ave., Littleton Police spokesman Cmdr. Trent Cooper said.

As officers approached the vehicle the driver took off, striking an officer and fleeing. That’s when a shot was fired, Cooper said.

There were three officers on scene at the time. It’s not clear that anyone was hit by the gunshot.

The driver is described by police as a Hispanic woman in her late 20s, with dyed blonde hair and a large build. The vehicle is described as an older dark blue sedan, possibly a Honda or Buick, with heavy body damage.

The vehicle was last seen going north on South Santa Fe Drive at West Hampden Avenue.

The patrolman hit by the sedan was taken to a local hospital, treated for injuries and released.
