Indiana: Fishers police make arrests after officer is intentionally struck by car
Fishers police arrested three people after they say an officer was intentionally struck by a car. Police say the incident happened in the 9800 block of Kincaid Blvd. on Nov. 23. Officers were called there to investigate a theft in progress at Fry’s Electronics.
When the first officer arrived, he saw the three suspects try to flee the area in a Toyota. He activated his emergency lights and the stopped the vehicle.
That’s when one of the suspects exited the car and ran. The officer began running after the suspect. The driver then reportedly backed into a parked car, drove over a curb, onto a lawn and intentionally struck the officer, knocking him to the ground. The driver then sped away.
The officer was able to get to his feet and eventually captured the suspect who originally fled, Allan Carter, 46. Neither the officer nor Carter were injured during the incident.
On Dec. 2, investigators located the striking vehicle parked in front of an Indianapolis home. The striking suspect, Jordan Petty, 29, and the third suspect, Michael McClendon, 21, were taken into custody.
Petty was charged with battery with a deadly weapon, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident. Carter was charged with theft, identity deception and resisting law enforcement. McClendon was charged with theft.
