California: Construction worker struck by car in Novato
A construction worker directing traffic was struck by a car Friday morning in Novato after a confrontation with a driver who fled the scene, then turned himself in to police. Novato police responded at about 8:45 a.m. to Center Road at Plaza Linda. Police determined the driver of the vehicle became aggressive with the construction worker after she put up a stop sign and stopped the vehicle for road construction going on in the area, according to police.
The driver yelled threatening statements at the construction worker and then accelerated his vehicle toward the victim, striking her. The driver then left the scene. The construction worker was treated by Novato firefighters for minor injuries at the scene and was released. The driver of the vehicle later contacted the Novato Police Department to report that he had been involved in the incident.
The driver, John Bee, 32, of Novato, was arrested and booked at the Marin County Jail under suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, according to police. He is being held on $50,000 bail.
