New York: Police: Trooper struck by impaired driver

A  state trooper was struck by an impaired driver Thursday while filling out an accident report on the Sprain Brook Parkway in Greenburgh, police said.Xhevalin Lala struck the unnamed trooper, who was sitting in his car, at about 4:40 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, police said. Lala's blood-alcohol level was found to be 0.06 percent, which falls below the legal limit of 0.08 percent, according to police. He was arrested and charged with driving while ability impaired and several vehicle and traffic violations. The officer sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from Westchester Medical Center.
