Connecticut: New Haven police detective struck by motorcycle, seriously injured
A New Haven police detective was treated for serious injuries Monday night after being pinned under a motorcycle near the 300 block of Kimberly Avenue.
Juan Ingles, 47, was directing traffic when he was struck by a motorcycle at about 3:15 p.m., according to a release from the Police Department.
Ingles was pinned underneath the motorcycle and freed by others on the scene, the release by police spokesman Officer David Hartman said. Ingles was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital to be treated for serious injuries, but had remained conscious, the release said.
The crash is under investigation by the New Haven Police Department. The operator of the motorcycle, whose identity was not released, is cooperating with officers, police said.
Ingles has served with the department for 14 years and currently is assigned to the Family Services Unit and is a department Bomb Squad technician.
