Rhode Island: State Trooper struck by vehicle while helping another on 146
State police say a Rhode Island state trooper was hurt after he was hit by a vehicle while helping a disabled vehicle on state Route 146 in Lincoln. State police say Jeremy Gaucher had been standing near the front of his cruiser Sunday morning when a vehicle lost control on the slick roadway, slid and then struck both the cruiser and the trooper.
Gaucher was taken to a hospital. He was treated for non-life threatening injuries and has been released. Police say drugs and alcohol don't appear to be a contributing factor. They say weather may have had a role in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation. No charges have been filed. State police say motorists should use caution and slow down when driving in poor weather conditions.
