Connecticut: Manchester Police Officer Struck By Car In Stable Condition
A town police detective was struck by a car Saturday night during a motor vehicle stop. Identified by sources as Det. James Graham, the officer was in stable condition at Hartford Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said. The driver of the car that hit Graham stopped and was cooperating with the investigation, police said.
The accident happened at about 8 p.m. while Graham was helping with a motor vehicle stop at Main and Wells streets, police traffic unit supervisor Stephen Bresciano said. A vehicle traveling south on Main Street hit Graham while he was crossing the road, Bresciano said.
"At this time, it does not appear that speed or impairment were factors in the collision," Bresciano said. Capt. Christopher Davis had said earlier that Graham was on patrol for drunk drivers. The Metro Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating
