Arkansas: Stuttgart officer injured Monday when he is struck by car
A Stuttgart police officer working part-time for the City of Humphrey was injured Monday morning during a traffic stop at the southern edge of the community along U.S. 79. Arkansas State Troopers were notified of the incident about 7:30 a.m. Sergeant Seneca Thornton, 36, of Stuttgart was struck by a southbound vehicle as Thornton approached a vehicle he had stopped.
The driver of the suspect vehicle crashed into a ditch south of the traffic stop. Both men were transported to area hospitals. An investigation by both the Arkansas State Police Highway Patrol Division and Criminal Investigation Division is under way.
