New York: Two cops injured by biker crew under Brooklyn Bridge, one run over by ATV
Two cops were injured Saturday, with one run over by an all-terrain vehicle that peeled away from the downtown Brooklyn scene, police said. The officers were responding on motorized scooters to reports of a crew of bikers riding at Old Fulton and Hicks Sts. in the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge just before 5:30 p.m.
One of the cops fell off his scooter and injured his arm and leg after one of the bikers rode close to him, according to an initial police account. When the injured cop’s partner got off his scooter to help, an ATV driver rolled over him and then took off, cops said.
The officer was hurt in the back. Both officers were taken to New York Methodist Hospital, where their injuries were not considered to be life-threatening. A suspect was later taken into custody at Nostrand Ave. and Herkimer St., miles away in Bedford-Stuyvesant. Charges against him were pending
