Florida: Orange County deputy struck by car
A deputy was struck by a car Friday evening, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said. It happened near South Texas Avenue and Americana Boulevard.
The Sheriff's Office said two deputies riding together at 6:43 p.m. got out of their vehicle to conduct a narcotics investigation at Americana Boulevard and Texas Avenue. The subject of the investigation who took off on foot across the intersection was pursued on foot by deputies, the Sheriff's Office said.
One deputy who maneuvered across the road on foot was struck or clipped on one arm, which caused a minor injury, deputies said. The driver of the vehicle stopped and cooperated with deputies.
The subject of the narcotics investigation was arrested and charged with a felony drug crime, the Sheriff's Office said.
The deputy's injuries were determined to be minor and non-life-threatening. The Sheriff's Office said the deputy was taken to a hospital for further examination, to undergo tests to determine the full extent of his injuries or if he suffered any breaks. The Florida Highway Patrol is conducting the traffic crash investigation, the Sheriff's Office said
