Texas: Officer struck by vehicle during traffic stop
A Bee Cave Police Officer was struck by a vehicle during a traffic stop early Saturday morning. According to the arrest warrant, officers noticed a Toyota that was not moving when traffic lights turned green at the intersection of Bee Cave Parkway and FM 620.
When officers approached the vehicle, they noticed the driver, Antonio Herrera, was asleep. When they woke him up, the driver allegedly cursed at them and attempted to drive away. Bee Cave police Officer Moring attempted to open the passenger side door, but Herrera allegedly jerked the wheel to the right, causing the vehicle to strike Moring on the body.
Herrera was taken into custody for DWI and will be charged with Assault of a Public Servant, a third-degree felony.
