Michigan: As police work crash, suspected drunken driver plows into firefighter's truck
A suspected drunken driver plowed into a firefighter's parked pickup early Thursday as authorities investigated a serious M-57 crash that happened an hour earlier.
The unoccupied firefighter's pickup was parked on M-57 near the Halfway Restaurant and being used as a "blocker" vehicle to stop traffic from entering the crash scene. The pickup was equipped with emergency lights and they were activated, state police said.
Police said the driver in the second crash had minor injuries and was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving. That crash happened about an hour after rescuers responded to a serious crash at M-57 and Wabasis Avenue.
An Aero Med helicopter took one woman to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital following that collision.State police said the woman was driving a car on Wabasis Avenue and missed the stop sign at M-57. The car was struck by an eastbound vehicle
