Louisiana: The man accused of killing a Sterlington Police Officer is out on bail
Tracy Govan, 44, is charged with several offenses, including vehicular homicide. Louisiana State Police say David Elahi and two other officers were working a traffic stop on Highway 165 South Sunday morning, when Govan, driving down the highway, crossed the fog line and hit the officers.
Police say alcohol was a factor and that Govan submitted to a breathalyzer 2 hours after the crash. It was then he registered at .062-percent, which is below the legal limit. Govan was booked into the Ouachita Correction Center at 9 a.m. Sunday morning. His bond was set at $251,150. He bonded out of jail around 8 p.m. Sunday night. The other officers involved in the crash suffered non-life threatening injuries.
