Delaware: ‘Pokemon Go’ causes driver to crash into police car
Police say a driver who crashed into a marked patrol car in Rehoboth Beach was trying to help his wife get to a Pokemon “gym” on the popular “Pokemon Go” smartphone game. Rehoboth Beach police say in a Facebook post that 28-year-old Mark A. Oldenburg of Dover was cited for inattentive driving and improper turn following the incident early Wednesday. No one was injured.
Police say Oldenburg’s wife had directed him to pull into a median parking spot in an attempt to locate a Pokemon gym. Oldenburg failed to check his surroundings and crashed into the officer’s vehicle. No one was injured. Pokemon gyms are sites of virtual battles between players of the game.
