South Carolina: Saluda County deputy recovering after being hit by car on the job

A Saluda County deputy is being treated in the hospital after being hit by a car on the job. According to a release, Saluda and Lexington County deputies were trying to serve an arrest warrant on a suspect on Old Lexington Road in Lexington County.

The suspect tried to run away and drove straight at deputies. According to the report, the suspect hit a Saluda County vehicle with a deputy inside. At that point deputies fired at the suspects and hit him.

The deputy and the suspect are both being treated at the hospital. The deputies involved are on administrative leave as part of the department policy. SLED is investigating the incident.
