Ohio: Toledo officer was struck by car in parking lot

A Toledo police officer was struck by a car driven by another officer in the parking lot of the TPD’s Scott Park District Station in the central city early today, authorities said. Officer Brian Heath was treated at an area hospital for a ”bump to his head,” Toledo police Lt. Joe Heffernan, the department spokesman said.

The incident at 2201 Nebraska Ave. occurred about 6 a.m., at which time both officers had just finished their shifts and were off-duty, Lt. Heffernan said. Officer Danielle Kasprzak, who was driving her vehicle, did not see Officer Heath, who was on foot, as she pulled out of a parking spot, according to the department spokesman. The incident was ruled an accident and there were no citations issued, he said.
