North Carolina: Pedestrian & officer hit by a car during the Ayden BBQ Cook-Off and Festival

The Ayden Police Department said an elderly woman and a police officer were hit by a car at the Ayden BBQ Cook-Off and Festival Saturday at 9:02 p.m. It happened between West Avenue and East Avenue, across from the concert area of the festival. The police officer was not seriously injured. The woman was taken to Vidant Medical Center but we do not know the extent of her injuries.

When asked about the driver who hit the two, police said the matter is still under investigation.Ayden Police Chief Barry Stanley is expected to release more information Sunday.
